New AAG report on codesign

AAG's latest report is hot off the press: 'Developing resources to support participation in codesign' reflects a close collaboration between AAG, the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN), Collabforge and, as the 2022 AAG Glenda Powell Travelling Fellow, Professor Peter Bragge from BehaviourWorks Australia.

This report presents the findings from a pre-conference workshop held in Adelaide in November 2022. The aim of the workshop was to engage with experts in collaboration and health codesign, and to create a set of guiding principles to assist older people to assess the opportunity and prepare to participate in codesign initiatives.

An accompanying guide to the report, 'Supporting you to participate in codesign' provides step-by-step advice for codesign projects.

AAG supports Embolden2023

AAG is proud to support and promote Embolden2023.

The Embolden Symposium is Australia's national event combatting ageism and building respect for older people. Its aim is to embolden (build capacity/confidence) service providers, policy makers, researchers, community leaders, older people and everyone who works with or for older people to accelerate the pace of change.

Embolden2023 will be held in Daylesford, Victoria, on 3 and 4 October (in-person event). Under the theme 'Words make worlds', Embolden2023 will draw on theories of language as a powerful tool for change. The program is structured to engage participants in sharing their expertise and identifying new strategies for change.

Embolden is an Initiative of Celebrate Ageing Ltd, led by Dr Catherine Barrett, AAG's 2019 Glenda Powell Travelling Fellow.

Farewell to Ceci

Last week, AAG's National Office team said 'farewell' to Dr Cecilia Inclan-Gomez. Ceci has left her part-time position as Research and Policy Officer to take up a full-time postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Queensland. It's an amazing - and highly deserved - opportunity for her.

Ceci has been a much-valued member of AAG, especially within the Policy and Research team. She was instrumental in progressing AAG's special interest groups and several major projects, most notably:

  • A rapid evidence assessment of the impact of heatwaves on older people
  • Best practice in capturing data on cultural and linguistic diversity
  • Evidence reviews of leadership skills in managing an aged care workforce
  • Workshop reports on people ageing with Post Polio syndrome and meaningful participation in codesign activities.

We will miss Ceci's intellect and curiosity about all aspects of ageing. Most of all, we'll miss her warmth and her sense of humour. All the best, Ceci
